Welcome to Bucharest and to our university!
We hope you will have a pleasant and productive stay and that you will enjoy your Erasmus scholarship in our city.
Student’s Guide to the University of Bucharest
The University of Bucharest has nineteen different Faculties. The Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures for instance are different institutions.
Why does this matter? If you take courses from the Faculty of Letters (such as Romanian courses for foreign students) you will have to ask for your Romanian Language grade (and Transcript of Records containing the Romanian course) at the Faculty of Letters. The same situation applies if you decide to take courses from another, different faculty: you will receive a separate Transcript of Records from that specific institution.
If you are registered at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, but wish to attend courses from a different faculty within the University of Bucharest, please notify the central Erasmus Office (contact@erasmus.unibuc.ro), so that they can issue a separate matriculation paper for you and send it to your chosen faculty. Otherwise, they will not have you in their databases.

Your Learning Agreements and Changes documents will be handled by our Erasmus Officer Ms. Beatrice CREȚU (beatrice.cretu@lls.unibuc.ro).
Please bear in mind that after we sign your Learning Agreement & Changes documents, you have to send them back to the central Erasmus Office for the entire University of Bucharest (contact@erasmus.unibuc.ro): 90-92 Șoseaua Panduri, 4th floor, room 406, Bucharest, 050663.
Senior lecturer Alexandra NICOLAESCU (alexandra.nicolaescu@lls.unibuc.ro)
Ms. Beatrice CREȚU (beatrice.cretu@lls.unibuc.ro)
Address: 5-7 Edgar Quinet Street (Vice-deans’ Office, staircase on the left, second floor, first door on the right)
Based on what courses you included in your original Learning Agreement, we advise you to consult the professors in charge of the relevant Departments (the section Responsabili ERASMUS & CEEPUS pe Departamente / ERASMUS & CEEPUS Coordinators for each language). They can guide you during this process and help you understand how to read the timetable.
You can decide on your schedule as you see fit, in accordance with your home university’s requirements and your own preferences. The “during the mobility” section of the Learning Agreement is to be completed in case you wish to perform any changes to the document. If you do, please make sure you have the correct codes and the number of credits of the courses you want to take.
There is no procedure you have to fulfill in order to register for courses, but we advise you to introduce yourself to the professors and let them know that you are an Erasmus student, so that they can include you in any mailing lists or groups they might have. In addition, they need to be aware that they should write down their marks in the register we provide at the Vice-Deans’ Office and not at the Secretariat.
Keep in touch with our volunteers and the professors in charge of language departments in which you are interested. Together, they will answer any questions you might have about the courses, codes, credits, curriculum plans, timetable and the faculty in general.
The academic curricula detailing the courses and seminars for each study program and specialization is HERE.
You can choose BA and MA courses from any year of study, specialization or language, but please make sure you select the codes that correspond to the chosen year of study.
- BA Level:
- 1st year courses refer to the 2024-2027 cycle;
- 2nd year courses refer to the 2023-2026 cycle;
- 3rd year courses refer tot the 2022-2024 cycle.
- MA Level:
- 1st year courses refer to the 2024-2026 cycle;
- 2nd year courses refer to the 2023-2025 cycle.
Make sure to ask the professors from your chosen language departments about the differences between languages A and B. Likewise, ask them for assistance in selecting the relevant codes for your courses and to indicate in the timetable the correct courses and seminars, in accordance with the chosen codes. Courses for languages A and B may have similar names, but their codes, credit numbers and levels of difficulty differ. They are often held separately, with different seminar groups.
If you are interested in attending the Romanian courses for foreign students (6 ECTS), please contact the central Erasmus Office (contact@erasmus.unibuc.ro), so that you can be distributed into groups.
The Romanian language courses will be held at the Faculty of Letters.
