ONLINE LANGUAGE CAFES FEBRUARY–MAY 2026
- Format and languages
Stockholm University is organizing Language Cafes both online through Zoom and on campus at Stockholm University. The languages and meeting format (on campus or on Zoom) are decided by the language competences and the meeting preferences of the students volunteering as coordinators (language supporters). All languages are welcome and they hope to see many of our students and staff signing up!
- Signing up as a participant
Students and staff who are interested in participating for language practice sign up through their registration form. All participants sign up individually using their official university email address, and receive a confirmation link by email. They need to click on the link to confirm their registration.
Participant sign-up is open all term through the registration form. More information can be found on their website.
Please note: Those who signed up for the previous term’s language cafes also need to fill out the form above – the registration is valid for the current term only.
- Signing up as a coordinator
Students who are interested in volunteering as coordinators in their first (or very strong) language(s) are encouraged to sign up for the online information meeting on Monday, 26 January, 4.15–5.45 p.m. CET and Tuesday, 27 January, 4.15–5.45 p.m. CET.
You can find more information on the website, and here is the signup link to the information meeting.
Coordinator sign-up is thereafter open all term through email (info@sprakstudion.su.se), but the initial schedule and list of available languages will be determined by those who participate on the information meeting.
- Schedule
The Language Cafes will start on 9 February and the schedule for the cafes will be published on this website a few days before.
Please note: Time slots and languages in the schedule may change throughout the term, so make sure to check the website for the current schedule.
ONLINE TANDEM LANGUAGE BUDDY PROGRAM FEBRUARY–MAY 2026
- Format and languages
Through this Tandem Program, students can be matched with a language buddy to practise each other’s languages. It is not about formal teaching, but rather an informal language exchange for which they decide the methods and forms (such as how often they meet and for how long). The program is open to all students and members of staff at Stockholm University and their partner universities. All languages are welcome.
- Signing up for the Tandem program
Students and staff who are interested in matching with a language buddy sign up through the registration form. All participants sign up individually using their official university email address, and receive a confirmation link by email. They need to click on the link to confirm their registration.
Sign-up is open all term, more information can be found on this website.
Please note: Those who signed up for the previous term’s Tandem Program also need to fill out the form above – the registration is valid for the current term only.
- Matching with a language buddy
Once the participants have registered, they will be placed in a queue. As soon as they find a matching language buddy, an email with contact information will be sent to the language buddies and they can start their exchange. Participants will state in the registration form if they would like to meet in person, online or both, and will only be paired up with a buddy with matching preferences. One person can have up to two language buddies, but not in the same language.
