LA QUESTION DE L’ÉDUCATION DES FEMMES CHEZ CHODERLOS DE LACLOS
THE QUESTION OF WOMEN’S EDUCATION IN CHODERLOS DE LACLOS
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/1
Abstract. In her letter LXXXI of Les Liaisons dangereuses, the Marquise de Merteuil summarizes a true program of education aimed at her own intellectual and social perfection, which highlights the essential elements of personal training in order to shine on the worldly scene. After the novel, Laclos’s interest in women’s education is also reflected in three of his unfinished theoretical writings: a brief answer to the question posed in 1783 by the Academy of Châlons-sur-Marne, Quels seraient les meilleurs moyens pour perfectionner l’éducation des femmes, a study entitled Des femmes et de leur éducation, and an essay on
reading among women. Laclos reflects on the social role of women (asking whether their influence should be limited to the family or whether it could also be extended to the society of the time), examines the question of women’s intellectual education (should women follow the male model – i.e. should they have access to all types of reading or should a teacher guide their reading?) and, of course, the issue of gender equality.

LA RELECTURE DU TEXTE PROUSTIEN OU LE REMANIEMENT IDENTITAIRE : LAURE MURAT, PROUST, ROMAN FAMILIAL
REREADING THE PROUSTIAN TEXT OR THE RESHAPING OF IDENTITY: LAURE MURAT, PROUST, ROMAN FAMILIAL
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/2
Abstract. The rereading of the Proustian text, as carried out by Laure Murat, seems to respond not only to an aesthetic inquiry revealing a literary world undergoing a permanent reconfiguration, but above all, to an identity and ontological questioning that has become essential for the Subject in the process of claiming its legitimacy. It is by exploring the porous borders that no longer separate, but, on the contrary, make possible the reciprocal contagion of personal genealogy and literary genealogy, that the narrator of Laure Murat’s novel will discover a new grid of intelligibility. This rereading of the world using the instruments of the Proustian grid will allow the rearrangement of reality and the reconstitution of a Subject whose visibility will have to be negotiated. The Proustian hypertext will become manifest in order to allow the Subject to inhabit the world. Moreover, to inhabit itself.

ÉVOQUER MARCEL PROUST POUR RÉFLÉCHIR SUR LA MATRICE DU MONDE ET SUR LES ENJEUX DE LA CRÉATION
EVOKING MARCEL PROUST TO PROBLEMATIZE THE MATRIX OF THE WORLD AND THE CHALLENGES OF CREATION
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/3
Abstract. Marcel Proust’s literary legacy continues to captivate contemporary writers, serving as both an aesthetic benchmark and a tool for exploring the human consciousness as it wrestles with the challenges of time. Challenged by the ambitious and very complex theme proposed of the workshop (Re)lire Proust dans la littérature française de l’extrême contemporain, conceived and organized by Lidia Cotea and Mihaela Stănică, this article is the fruit of reflections prepared for this workshop’s debates and aims to analyze the echoes of Proustian writings in the contemporary francophone literature. From an intertextual and critical perspective, our study seeks to answer two key research questions: how do the echoes of Proustian writing manifest in the Francophone novel Que notre joie demeure by Kevin Lambert? What are the strategies for articulating the relationship between Proust’s literary vision and Lambert’s reflection on the mechanisms of subjectivity and the principles underlying the artistic creation? We will explore how points of dialogue with Proust’s oeuvre serve not only as a strategy to reinforce the connection between contemporary writing and literary or artistic heritage but also as a practice aimed at highlighting a reflection on the poetic and ethical stakes of the creative act.

SOBRE LOS PRÉSTAMOS LIBRESCOS DE LOS DECIRES LÍRICOS DEL MARQUÉS DE SANTILLANA
NOTES ABOUT THE LATIN LOANWORDS OF DECIRES LÍRICOS BY MARQUÉS DE SANTILLANA
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/4
Abstract. The current article aims at analysing the Latin loanwords that appear in Decires líricos, which is an important lyrical creation by Íñigo López de Mendoza, Marqués de Santillana (1398-1458). The hypothesis we start from is that, through his artistical contribution, the Marqués de Santillana illustrated the tendency of the Spanish Prerenaissance to redefine the status of the vernacular languages in connection with the classical languages. The methodology that we will use is based on the identification and classification of the Latin loanwords of the corpus in a chronological order, by comparing and analysing different lexicographical sources.

AL MOMENTO GIUSTO
AT THE RIGHT MOMENT

Abstract. Italian Studies in Romania have profited from a beneficial continuity between 1909 (starting with the arrival of Ramiro Ortiz at the University of Bucharest) and the end of World War II. Prof. Alexandru Marcu, representing the next generation, continued the trend by building on the extensive foundation by Ortiz. However, the Sovietization of Romanian education (1948-1958) interrupted this evolution. The list of disadvantages negatively impacting the Italian Studies is long: Italian language and culture were removed from pre-university education and were drastically reduced in the higher education. For 19 years, only the University of Bucharest had a dedicated Italian Department with the right to grant graduation degrees. Essential teaching materials for education, translators and researchers were no longer available. International communication was completely interrupted via measures like eliminating the possibility of hosting lecturers from abroad until 1965, stopping the purchase of foreign publications and not issuing passports to those who could benefit from scholarships. This increasingly difficult situation was largely solved after Nina Façon took over the chair of the Italian Department.

MICHELANGELO POETA – NINA FAÇON A 29 ANNI
MICHELANGELO THE POET – NINA FAÇON AT THE AGE OF 29
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/7
Abstract. This research intends to be a recollection and a tribute to Nina Façon, the illustrious scholar in Italian studies, a Romanian author of exceptional studies on Italian literature and language and an extraordinary translator of some monumental Italian classical works. The illustration of her excellency is demonstrated starting from her first important work, her PhD thesis Michelangelo poeta, elaborated at the age of 29 and published the following year, that is, in 1939. After some personal memories as a student of the distinguished professor in the 60s, the article mentions Façon’s complex intellectual formation (she graduated not only in Italian, but also in history and philosophy) and analyzes her doctoral thesis – a true example of erudition and critical sensibility. Façon sees the common thread of Michelangelo’s poetic creation in the need to express in words, stage by stage, his problematic spiritual and existential perspective, which is also found in his prodigious artistic creation. The thesis demonstrates how this thread runs through the philosophical and stylistic core of all Michelangelo’s poetry: a fruit of his times, it manages to stand out as a unicum in Italian Renaissance lyric poetry.

Abstract. The purpose of this brief contribution is to pay a personal tribute to Professor Nina Façon, a great role model for my endeavor to teach Italian at the university. Her lectures on the history of the language and of contemporary Italian literature, her seminars – true workshops of scientific training – but above all her numerous volumes of course materials, have always been valuable sources of inspiration for me, as well as effective means to engage students by creating a learning environment of high level.

Abstract. Nina Façon, a distinguished scholar and professor of Italian language and literature at the University of Bucharest, was also commemorated on the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the Romanian language chair at the University of Padua. During the Second World War, as a result of racial laws, she was forced to leave Romania and moved to Padua, where she was nevertheless also subjected to persecution under the Fascist regime. Upon her return to her home country, she represented a rare example of integrity and culture in an academic environment marked by mediocrity and opportunism. In the memories of her students, what remains is her severity and discretion, her austere life entirely devoted to scholarship, as well as the decisive role she played in their intellectual and professional formation. Façon was a moral and intellectual model, capable of combining rigour and humanity, of resisting compromise, and of embodying the ideal of “salvation through culture.”.

“GRAMMATICA STORICA DELLA LINGUA ITALIANA” VS. “CORSO DI STORIA DELLA LINGUA ITALIANA”
“HISTORICAL GRAMMAR OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE” VS. “COURSE IN THE HISTORY OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE”
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/10
Abstract. There are two seminal linguistic works written by the Italianist Nina Façon, who carried on the legacy of the founders of Italian language and literature Seminary at the University of Bucharest: Grammatica storica della lingua italiana (1963-64) and Corso di storia della lingua italiana (1971). The first, divided into three parts (phonetics, morphology, and syntax), analyses the evolutions of Vulgar Latin into Italian, rigorously examining the phonetic and grammatical changes that defined Italian language and its regional variants. The second work, a historical and educational one, studies the evolution of the Italian Literary Language from the origins to the Twentieth Century, paying a particular attention to the relationship between language and dialects, to social and political factors and to the influence of foreign cultures. The two works, which complement each other, reflect the scholar’s rigorous methodology and profound academic ethics; Professor Nina Façon is unique in the Romanian academic landscape for her ability to combine linguistics, history of literature, and literary criticism with an original, well-documented and highly educational approach.

LA FORTUNA DELLE TRADUZIONI DI NINA FAÇON
THE LEGACY OF NINA FAÇON’S TRANSLATIONS
DOI: 10.62229/aubllrlxxv/26/11
Abstract. This study examines the legacy and cultural impact of the translations carried out by Nina Façon (1909–1974), a prominent figure in the field of Italian studies in Romania, analyzing their presence and dissemination during two distinct periods: before and after 1989. Through her translation work, Façon ensured that Italian classics such as Machiavelli, Vico, Verga, Carducci, and De Sanctis were integrated into the Romanian cultural canon. Surprisingly, the post-1989 reception of her translations has been limited to the reissue of only two titles: Principele by Machiavelli and Asupra iubirii or Banchetul lui Platon by Marsilio Ficino. The study further examines the reception of other Italian authors whom Façon introduced to Romanian readers, often for the first time, and highlights the post-1989 absence of some essential names previously translated by her.
